Pilar Trelles Thorne

Dr. Pilar Trelles is a child and adolescent psychiatrist with expertise in autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and related neurodevelopmental disabilities (NDDs).  She is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and Attending Psychiatrist at the Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities at Bradley Hospital, RI.  Dr. Trelles research has been dedicated to improving health outcomes in ethnic minority groups and underserved populations with neurodevelopmental disabilities.  By building strong community ties, through stakeholder engagement, she has been able to design and implement research projects that have served to characterize healthcare disparities and identify pockets of need in minority children with NDDs both nationally and internationally.  Most recently, Dr. Trelles efforts have been centered on improving diversity in ASD genomic research and exploring the use of telehealth platforms as a way to address healthcare disparities in NDDs.
